POINT CLEAR, AL – (Feb. 25, 2023) Round One results of the Junior Golf Alabama Kickoff held at Lakewood Golf Club, in Point Clear, Alabama, Feb. 25-26, 2023.

Harrison Parker leads the Male 14-18 Age Division, firing an impressive one-over 73 for the day. The Mountain Brook, AL native made a total of three birdies to open Round One. Parker leads his competition by just one stroke; Jake Norris of Vestavia Hills, AL carded a two-over 74 for the day. Two players stand T3–Jason Paynter of Pensacola, FL and Blake Cornell of Daphne, AL each made a three-over 75 for the day.
Neely Kight of Watersound, FL and Julie Waldo of Prattville, AL are T1 within the Female 14-18 Age Division, each posting a two-over 74 for the day. Lily Martin of Inlet Beach, FL, stands four strokes behind with a 78 for the day.
Jacob Drysdale of Pensacola, FL leads the Male 12-13 Age Division, carding an impressive three-over 75 for the round. One stroke separates Drysdale and his nearest competition; Alex Foster of Mobile posted a four-over 76 for the day.
Birmingham native Haynes Willings leads the Male 9-11 Age Division with an 11-over 83 for Round One. Joe Hamilton of Mobile stands just one stroke behind, carding a 12-over 84 for the day. With just Willings and Hamilton as the only players within the Male 9-11 Age Division, the competition is tight going into the Final Round.
Eight-year-old John Chappell of Homewood leads the Male 6-8 Age Division with a 15-over 51 for his nine-hole round (Male and Female 6-8 Age Divisions play a total of 18 holes, 9 each day). Chappell nearly made a hole-in-one on #3, coming about six inches within the hole. His closest competition is Samuel Fraser of Fairhope–Fraser posted a 20-over 56 for the day.
Local talent Cameran Cancienne of Fairhope carded a 27-over 63 within the Female 6-8 Age Division.
The Final Round of the Junior Golf Alabama Kickoff will begin Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10.
